What We Do

AOS-Canada chaplains and volunteers look after seafarers by offering various services throughout Canada's ports. These services include, but are not limited to:

  • Spiritual assistance
    • Prayer and counselling
    • Mass and/or interdenominational prayer services
    • Transportation to nearby place of worship
    • Bibles, rosaries and prayer books in various languages
    • Information about other port ministries throughout Canada and around the world
  • Social assistance
    • Advocacy services
    • Brochures and literature on seafarers' legal and human rights
  • Other services:
    • Long distance telephone cards and and access to private telephones for seafarers who wish to call their loved ones
    • Books, winter clothing and toiletries
    • Postcards, stamps and postal service
    • Internet access and recreation areas
    • Transportation to grocery stores and wholesale outlets
    • A kitchen, bar and lounge area for seafarers
    • Organized trips to local tourist attractions
